Puppy Pre-School

Puppy Preschool graduates at Mitcham Pet HospitalBeing a puppy is one of the most important stages in a dog's life. It is in this period (4 - 18 weeks of age) that your puppy learns, develops and grows. This is the critical time to start training and socialising your puppy. Your puppy absorbs everything it sees and experiences which has a great impact how it behaves and perceives things as an adult.

The aims of Puppy Preschool classes are:

  • To teach you about normal canine behaviour
  • To teach the best training methods to enable you to train your puppy at home
  • To allow puppies to socialise in a safe and controlled manner
  • To get your puppy to accept gentle handling from other humans
  • To learn some basic obedience
  • To help solve problem issues such as house training, biting, jumping up, chewing etc.
  • To teach your dog that coming to a Vet Clinic can be fun and not stressful for both them and you

Puppy Pre-School is essential for every new puppy and owner. Puppyhood is a sensitive period when a puppy learns right from wrong along with the social skills that will affect the dog’s behaviour throughout its life. At Puppy Pre-School, puppies are allowed to socialize and learn in a safe controlled environment. This gives your new puppy the best possible start to become an obedient, well-adjusted, loving companion.

Thousands of dogs end up dumped or surrendered to shelters each year due to behavioural problems. Many of them are euthanased. We believe nurturing them correctly from a young age will help to prevent your puppy from becoming one of these statistics.
