DR HOOTAN SHAH
DR HOOTAN SHAHPrincipal Veterinary Consultant & Surgeon
Dr Hootan Shah graduated as a Veterinarian from the University of Melbourne. He has more than 10-years of veterinary consulting and surgical experience (both routine & complex) under his belt and now works exclusively at Mitcham Pet Hospital on a permanent full-time basis.

By night, “Hootan the Singing Vet” is a classical opera singer! He performs in charity concerts and is always keen to help other wildlife welfare groups and animal shelters.

Dr Shah’s free time is devoted to his 3 adopted rescue dogs (Ziba, Asha & Pinot Noir), his daughter “ Munneley” and his wife “Ara”.

DR MEI CHAN
DR MEI CHANAssociate Veterinary Surgeon
Dr Mei Chan graduated from the University of Melbourne and has practiced in Melbourne, Singapore, Perth and is now back in Melbourne with Mitcham Pet Hospital. She has years of experience in all different aspects of Veterinary from Surgery, medicine, Emergency, exotic animals to general practice and routine procedures.

She is compassionate, caring and endeavors to make vet visits stress free and enjoyable for you and your pets.

DR KLARE HO
DR KLARE HOAssociate Veterinary Surgeon
Born in Malaysia and growing up in Melbourne, Klare has always been enthralled by the concept of the human-animal bond. She completed her undergraduate degree in a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (BBiomedSc) at Monash University before studying the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at the University of Melbourne. After seven long years of schooling, she graduated in 2022. Since then, Klare has undergone further training in surgery, medical oncology, anaesthesia and emergency medicine by completing a rotating internship at “Southpaws Specialist Surgery for Animals” where she has been exposed to challenging cases and learned to practice highest standard veterinary medicine.

Klare is dedicated to providing the best care for your family member and will be their healthcare advocate from the moment they arrive at Mitcham Pet Hospital. She looks forward to being there on your pet’s journey from sharing your excitement during their first puppy vaccinations all the way to exercising her empathy when preserving their quality of life during their last peaceful years.

Outside of her busy work schedule, she tries to find time for her hobbies such as baking and exploring Melbourne’s food culture.

Our Vet Nurses

LINDA
LINDAManager & Senior Veterinary Nurse
Linda is thrilled to be Mitcham Pet Hospital’s Manager and Senior Nurse. She has an Associate Degree in Veterinary Nursing and has previously worked in GP Clinics. Linda has a special interest in Rabbits and Guinea pigs also worked at the Rabbit Clinic for 3 years.

At home Linda has quite the Menagerie of Animals including two dogs (Ruby & Bailey), a budgie (Frankie), three cheeky rabbits, 7 guinea pigs, 5 chickens and 5 sheep! They all keep her very busy.

Linda looks forward to meeting you and your fur babies!

NANAKO
NANAKOQualified Head Nurse
Nanako has been at Mitcham Pet Hospital from the start of reopening in 2021 as a trainee nurse but in late 2023 she has graduated from Box Hill Tafe Certificate IV Veterinary nursing and is now a qualified Veterinary Nurse.

She is a real animal lover and she can’t wait to see all your furry companions big or small, hairless or fur ball. She has two cats at home, small naughty torti named Junnie and an old Maine Coon boy named Mocha. In her spare time she loves camping or anything outdoors, bouldering, sports and eating out with friends + family.

LUCY
LUCYQualified Head Nurse
Lucy started at Mitcham Pet Hospital in early 2022 and has become a qualified Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse after completing all her studies since joining the team. She is always thrilled to be able to work and learn alongside others who share the same passion for patient care and comfort.

She loves all types of animals but has a particular soft spot for felines. She has three beloved cats at home – rescues Haru and Mei and her Ragdoll Haku who always seems to get into trouble. When she is not working, Lucy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading and playing piano.

JACKY
JACKYQualified Veterinary Nurse
Jacky has her Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing. She loves working with all animals but definitely has a soft spot for German Shepherds.

Jacky lives with her husband, Issa and their family of pets including 3 large Oscar fish, 2 lorikeets called Squizzy and Buddy. And of course her number one goofball – Tank – who is a long coat German Shepherd dog.

In her spare time she loves to relax and watch movies and go on outdoor adventures with Tank.

SINEAD
SINEADQualified Veterinary Nurse
Sinead has a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing from Kangan Institute. She has a passion for animal nutrition and behaviour and a soft spot for our senior patients.
Her best pal is her dog Winter, a cheeky and energetic border collie cross kelpie.

When Sinead is not out exploring with Winter, she can be found listening to true crime podcasts and reading. She loves everything outdoors and depending on the season is either hitting the mountain on her snowboard or going camping with friends.

JESSICA
JESSICATrainee Nurse
Jessica is studying an associate Degree of Veterinary Nursing part time at Melbourne Polytechnic.

Jess has a great passion for animals in particular cats, Jessica has been running her own kitten rescue for almost 5 years. “Rescuing one cat won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one cat”. Jessica’s passion in life is to raise awareness for stray/abandoned kittens. She hopes to help educate the community on the importance of the health and care towards our furry friends.
Jessica is devoted to ensuring the best care is given towards all our hospital patients and fur parents.

Outside of work, Jess enjoys spending time going on adventures to the beach/nature with her daughter & and partner. Jess also enjoys spending time with her many fur/ feathered babies.

ABBEY
ABBEYTrainee Nurse
Abbey is in her third year of Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing at Melbourne Polytechnic (in conjunction with LaTrobe University), where she will be fully qualified by the end of 2024!

She has a huge passion for all pets and wildlife and gives the highest standard of care to every patient who walks in the door.

In between her studies and work she enjoys horse riding, photography and fishing. Among the many pets in our team, she has an English Staffy called Phoenix.

CHARLIE BOY
CHARLIE BOYDr Hootan’s Stepson!
Charlie Boy has been with us since the start of 2024! Our official clinic cat. He is very loved by everyone at the clinic and is the best cuddle buddy.

He is also known as Dr Hootan’s stepson! A little bit about him, his favorite treats are greenies, he loves head pats and he will definitely try to steal your attention throughout the work day.
