Get To Know Dr Hootan Shah
Dr Hootan Shah originally graduated as a Mixed-Animal Veterinarian in Iran (2004) and, after migrating to Australia (2009), undertook a further two years of study to graduate as a Veterinarian from the University of Melbourne.
With more than 10-years of veterinary consulting and surgical experience (both routine & complex) under his belt, this widely-loved resident of Manningham bought the 35-year old Mitcham Pet Hospital after it was sadly closed due to a shortage of veterinarians.
As the new Owner and Principal Veterinary Surgeon, Dr Shah now works exclusively at Mitcham Pet Hospital on a permanent full-time basis. He aims to expand the veterinary team and extend the hospital’s operational hours to better serve the needs of the community.
Dr Shah’s free time is devoted to his 3 adopted rescue dogs (Ziba, Asha & Pinot Noir), his little daughter “ Munneley” and his beloved wife “Ara”.
By night, “Hootan the Singing Vet” is a tenor – a classical opera singer! He performs in charity concerts to help animal welfare groups and is always keen to help other wildlife and animal shelters.
In 2020 Hootan performaved at a bushfire relief concert for Wildlife Victoria right before the Melbourne Covid-19 lockdowns.
